Bodegas y Viñedos Santos J. Carelli was born in 1943, when Santos J. Carelli bought the winery, which was built in 1895. It comprises a late 19th century building, recently restructured by the famous Bórmida-Yanzón studio, maintaining its original construction and country-house style, with high ceilings, wooden floors and ornaments, and glass skylights, all of which create an intimate environment for visitors. The third generation is currently participating in the project, leading Carelli wines to achieve several international awards. The winery is located in Reducción, in the district of Rivadavia, to the south of Tunuyán River. Carelli has 140 hectares of own vineyards in Rivadavia, San Martín and Junín. In average, Carelli has an annual production of 12,000 hectoliters of own grapes including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Torrontés. The results have been very good: Carelli Malbec 2006 received Gold Medals in the contests "Malbec al Mundo 2006" and "Argentina Wine Awards 2009." Moreover, Carelli Gran Malbec 2006 got 92 points in Stephen Tanzer`s tasting "The Best New Wines from Argentina."
